What is Panchanga Yoga?

Yoga (யோகம்) is one of the five limbs (Pancha Anga) of the Hindu almanac. There are 27 Yogas, each with a unique quality and influence. A Yoga is calculated by adding the absolute longitudes of the Sun and Moon, then dividing by 13°20' (800 minutes). The resulting number (1–27) gives the Yoga.

Each Yoga lasts approximately 24 hours (though it can range from 22 to 26 hours). Auspicious Yogas like Siddhi, Shubha, and Brahma are favoured for new beginnings. Inauspicious ones like Vishkambha and Vaidhriti are avoided for muhurtham.
